Are you sure you're worried about her feelings? It seems you're just afraid of losing your position in the groups by hurting a "pillar" member. And, maybe, moved by self interest, had accepted all of this awkward situation so far just to be in.

Did you state that you would pay when you invited them? If you did not, why did you pay?

comment How can we tell a divorced friend that his ex has moved on, and appears to have a boyfriend?
@AllTheKingsHorses Sure. What I wanted to point out is that the "mind your own business" approach is not always good. Sometimes it can be just a sign of indifference. Plus, being direct, most of the time, is better than being indirect.

To care for each other is part of what friendship is. "Mind your own business" sometimes is just the opposite of it. As long as we're not the victim of some injustice or scheme, its ok? But what if we are indeed the victim? I would like to have a good friend to help me open my eyes and see what I can not.

@IamNotListening This is not about she being allowed to move on. She can and she did. The whole thing is about Bill knowing it. If he knows and still wants to help her financially, ok, sure, his call. But if he does not know and is being led to believe that he still got a chance with her, when he does not, as a good friend, I would like to tell him direcly.

@IamNotListening By his ex-wife probably hiding the new boyfriend from him and gladly accepting his financial support while, by the OP description, he is obviously hoping to make amends with her. And probably she knows that and is taking advantage of it. Well, this is how all of this sounds like to me.

Terrible idea. If I was being made a fool, probably being used by someone, I would like to know. I would expect that from a good friend: the truth. Sure, would hurt and all, but the pain would be worse if I found out later by myself and knew that one of my friends knew and didn't told me. That would be even more terrible.

comment How do I get my father back after an extended time of being estranged?
I suppose his mother have lived long enough to know his father better. She knows his genius and probably knows he's a difficult person to deal with. This is not about changing him, but is about to love him despite all of his troubles. That's her wish. To her son to be with his father to the end as a loving son as hard as this might be.

@Rishika Because your future husband loves his sister as you probably love your own family members. Imagine if he asked you to cut off your mother, or father, or any other dear family member from your life? How would you feel about it?

@apaul I see. I'm not challenging your answer. I'm simply disagreeing it in one point and commenting about it. Can we disagree?
