Jun 4, 2018 at 16:57 comment added kleineg @dn3s You make a really good and overlooked point. I am in the camp that the husband should not be told, but Jane should know that remaining friends with someone who would do this is not a right that person is entitled to.
Jun 2, 2018 at 16:32 comment added user371366 if one wants to intervene so forcefully in someone else's relationship (although that really should be saved for things like abuse), the bare minimum should be to negotiate a very generous deadline on when they will disclose the cheating and work with them to help them prepare for the fallout however they believe necessary.
Jun 2, 2018 at 16:30 comment added user371366 not a lot of answers address jane's safety is she is outed for cheating with no notice (recall that the original plan was to not inform her AT ALL). We don't know what the "some mistakes in their relationship" are, and the OP mentions the possibility of retaliation from the husband. Cheating is complicated and none of us, including OP, likely fully understand why she's doing it and what dangers she may face if outed without time to prepare / find somewhere safe to go. We may like to believe that this will end in nothing more than a confrontation and breakup but that's not always the case.

Mar 7, 2018 at 3:26 comment added Jesse Having multiple sub-questions does not really work for this format. Perhaps having the one question: "How can we tell the husband?" with remaining calm, avoiding expensive retaliations and keeping existing friendships if possible as goals rather than additional questions, could fix the broadness issue here.

Mar 6, 2018 at 21:18 comment added Some Guy With a Tomato @sphennings I expressed in the post that I know things will probably not work out well. I don't think it's a very broad question at all, I'm asking how to keep peace and make sure nothing goes really bad, I don't want anyone or anything to be physically hurt because of this situation, that is my main goal.
Mar 6, 2018 at 21:16 comment added Some Guy With a Tomato @AndreiROM We wanted to say something before, but none of us felt it was our place. This is very obviously flawed thinking on our part, and there have been many awkward moments because of it. I understand we will not be unscathed, and that's okay, I can take responsibility for that. The time we set up to meet is the earliest possible for us. We've all known about the issue for a while now, except her brother who just recently found out. It was me and my girlfriend who brought up that we wanted to tell her husband. We moved in together within the last 2 months.

Mar 6, 2018 at 21:03 comment added sphennings This looks like a rather broad question. There's no guarantee that things will work out well. Can you ask a more specific question?
