India has a tradition of indulging elders. It's also a cultural thing here (though by no means uniformly seen) that we follow the path of least resistance with the selfish but eminently sensible motive of saving energy for things that really matter to us. But Uncle is a domineering type and not subtle: so your methods may be the only ones to work in this case! | |
