Proposed edit to narrow the focus of a question on hold (because it was too broad).

Put all of the examples together, edited in the relative's age. If you really have more specific examples as you stated in the comments, feel free to add one. It might be good a good replacement for the text message example, since that doesn't really look very problematic on it's own...

Not sure the bike light example is relevant here. Removed to tighten the scope of the question

Jan 22, 2018 at 10:11 | comment | added | Mithical | @user2851843 - Please don’t write answers in comments. It bypasses our quality measures by not having voting (both up and down) available on comments, as well as having other problems detailed on meta. Comments are for clarifying and improving the question; please don’t use them for other purposes.

Jan 22, 2018 at 9:54 | comment | added | Tinkeringbell♦ | The situation has gotten so bad at times it has led to (verbal) fights! suggests to me that you've already tried some things to address the behavior? What have you tried?

Jan 22, 2018 at 9:41 | comment | added | user4788 | I honestly can't really tell what the problem is. Is it really so bad to be told what is highlighted instead of "please text before you call"? And the thing with the light.. he just wanted to make sure you didn't get stuck with a product you couldn't use. He doesn't understand bikes it seems, but maybe he bought something incompatible with something he had at one point, and was just trying to save you from getting in the same situation? What exactly is it about his behavior that bothers you and others?
