I work as a graphic designer on a freelance platform. Recently, one of my regular clients messaged and said he hashad a surprise for me. He toldsaid that the poster I designed for his play won the award for best poster and my name was called out onin the award ceremony. He also sent a picture of the memento and thanked me for my vision and execution. I felt very much surprised and proud of the work I delivered to him. This was actually the first time I get recognized for my work and thus I'veI have a strong wish to get the memento in my hands. But, I'm not sure whether it is right or not!

We don't know each other outside the freelance platform and we're located in different countries. And he never toldsaid whether he'd send the memento to me. He just thankedsaid thanks and asked me to treat myself.

So, How can I ask for the memento without offending him?

I was so free, removing the 2nd question which tempted to make this post Off-Topic. Feel free to roll back, but expect it to be clsoed in that case.

So,

  • If I ask him whether he could send the memento, will that be rude?
  • How can I ask without offending him?
