Talking on the phone is a necessary professional skill to have. If you are unable to do this and people ask someone else, this is not rude. The smartest person may be the smartest person but if they can't communicate effectively no one will truly know.

@user3169 First of all it's disgusting and distracting both visually and audibly. I don't see anything wrong in correcting this type of behavior for the betterment of that person.
As a guy who has confessed feelings for a friend that I've had for a couple years. If you are aware of his feelings be clear, honest and leave no room for confusion. If it's going to hurt, do it fast.
